Conditions under which dogs are accepted for grooming

1. The dog is fit and healthy. Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at your (the owner’s) own risk. You must declare to the Groomer any known medical or health conditions (including allergies) which your dog has. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems for which we cannot be held liable.

2. It must be clearly understood and agreed that whilst every care and attention is given to your dog(s) they are accepted at your (the owner’s) own risk. Our first concern is for the welfare of your dog so in the event of illness or injury a Veterinarian may be sought. Unless it can clearly be shown that we are liable, all costs in the connection and the carrying out of this instruction will be at the owner’s expense.

3. If we believe the dog has a pre-existing condition for which Veterinary treatment should be sought, your Groomer will provide you with a referral note which you can take to your own Vet.

4. Payments will be made on collection of your dog. Estimates are made on an average dog of the breed or type. Owners must be aware that some dogs will require extensive extra work (e.g. de-matting) for which there will be an extra charge. When possible we will make you aware of these charges after an initial health check and prior to accepting your dog for grooming.

De-matting

Shaving of dogs will dramatically change their appearance and their hair will be very short and close to the skin. This can expose pre-existing conditions and in some cases may leave clipper rash. Your written permission will be required to shave off a coat. Small matts will be removed at the Groomer’s discretion and in the best welfare interests of the dog.

Severely matted dogs will take much longer to groom. If your dog is severely matted an add-on charge of £5 - £15 may be required. De-matting will be discussed and agreed prior to the groom starting.

Fleas

It is trusted that your dog has its vaccinations and flea treatment up to date. An untreated dog is at risk and also puts others at risk. If fleas are found on your dog prior to grooming your dog will not be accepted for grooming. In this instance a fee of £30 will still be required as the groom slot will not be filled at such short notice. If during the groom fleas are found on your dog, the groom will be completed and £15 will be added to the groom price as the trailer will need to be fumigated.

Dogs which can be aggressive

The grooming environment can be stressful for a dog, especially if they are not groomed regularly. If your dog is known to be aggressive you must please make your Groomer aware of this prior to a groom and your dog may be muzzled at times for it's own and the Groomer's safety. If the Groomer's safety is at risk they may need to stop the groom. If the groom cannot be completed due to a dog's aggression a full fee will still be required.
